ChapterCheck Terms of Use

Last updated: 5 October 2026

1. The service

ChapterCheck is an iOS reading app with two parts. The free part tracks what you are reading and what you have finished. The paid part is recall: after you finish a chapter you write what you remember from memory, and an AI grader tells you what you retained and what you lost.

2. Subscriptions

ChapterCheck Pro is available as:

each with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers.

3. There is no score

ChapterCheck deliberately does not give you a score, a percentage, or a coverage figure. The grader's list of what you kept and what you missed is information about one attempt at one chapter. It is not a measure of your memory, your intelligence, or your reading ability, and it should not be treated as one.

4. Your content

What you write is yours. You keep ownership of it. You grant us only the permission needed to run the service for you: to store it, display it back to you, and send it to our grading provider to produce the kept/missed lists (see the Privacy Policy).

Your recall check-ins are private. Some things you write are public by design: your profile, reviews, ratings, comments and chapter posts can be seen by other readers unless you make your shelf private. For those, you also grant us permission to show them to other readers of ChapterCheck. Delete them and we stop showing them.

5. Acceptable use

Do not use ChapterCheck to break the law, to abuse the service, to attempt to access other people's data, to scrape or overload our systems, or to reverse-engineer the grading to extract the underlying model. We may suspend accounts that do.

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users. Do not post anything that is hateful, harassing, threatening, sexually explicit, violent, or that targets another person, and do not impersonate anyone. You can report any review, comment or profile from inside the app, and you can block any reader so you no longer see what they post. We review reports and aim to act on them within 24 hours: we remove content that breaks these rules and remove the accounts of people who post it.

6. Availability

We aim to keep ChapterCheck working, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. Features may change, and parts of the service depend on third parties (Apple, Supabase, our model provider) whose availability we do not control.

7. Disclaimers and limits

The service is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data beyond what the law requires. Nothing here limits rights you have that cannot be limited by law, including your statutory consumer rights.

8. Apple

These terms are between you and us, not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it. If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm you are not in a country subject to a US government embargo, and are not on any US government prohibited-party list.

9. Changes

We may update these terms; if a change is material we will surface it in the app and update the date above. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.
